Marilene was born in Brazil and has been painting since the age of nine, encouraged by her mother's own paintings and interest in art. She went to study Fine Art at The University of Maranhao in North Eastern Brazil.
She was based for several years close to the beach at Porto Seguro on the South Atlantic coast, where she had her own gallery, taking inspiration from the varied and beautiful wildlife of the area.
Marilene interest in a wide range of art and artists, led her to Spain, France and England where she has exhibited work. The decision to visit Europe was linked to her desire to experiment different cultures whilst continuing to study art. She currently lives in London.
